The EC stirrup hoe is likened to a "razor blade for the ground" by Eliot Coleman. It is a sharp blade used to "shave/cut" weeds on the surface.
Like all weed control operations, the weed stage is a key factor.
The "weeds" must be cut when they are small for speed of execution and to facilitate the weeding process. At the filament/cotyledon stage, weeds may be cut at the surface or just below and will not grow back. The EC weeder has the benefit of cutting weeds without destroying the soil structure and it doesn't stimulate the germination of buried weed seeds.
The EC weeder is mainly used on light soils
On receiving the blade, you will be able to sharpen it depending on the work you want to do.
